As urban development continues around cities, the inclusion of green space in the form of parks and wilderness areas is becoming more important and more commonplace. In addition to these spaces being great places for humans to recreate, these areas often also provide corridors for other animals to travel and live, undetected, deep into urban areas. Bears, cougars, deer, coyotes, raccoons… all are adapting to hunting and foraging in urban areas.
In reality, it was their area to begin with.
This creates the very real potential for regular interactions between humans (both adults and children) and pets with these wild animals.
The Hornet air horn can be a very useful tool in this context. All the animals listed above have hearing more sensitive than humans and can easily be startled by an unexpected, loud sound.
A bear having caught wind of your garbage cans or apple tree in your backyard, a coyote eyeing your small dog, a deer eating your roses… the Hornet rechargeable air horn will reliably provide that startling sound to harmlessly scare these animals away, and at a distance 8-10 times farther than the maximum effective distance (25-30 feet) of bear spray.
A side benefit, along with scaring-off the animal, of the Hornet air horn is that the sound will also notify others in the neighbourhood that there is an unwanted visitor. Some communities have developed their own sequence of signals to warn neighbours when a bear or other animal has been sighted.
