WoodsCan Hornet Sport Rechargeable Electric Air Horn
The world’s most advanced signaling device for sport and recreational activities and safety.
Camping and Kayaking Safety
“I took a chance on this air horn with no reviews posted so far, but it’s exactly what I wanted for some added safety while backcountry camping, hiking and kayaking on Vancouver Island. I love that it’s rechargeable and it’s LOUD!”
Cycling Safety
“Absolutely amazing! Toronto streets are crazy. Cyclists and drivers both cause issues but this horn gets attention. It’s saved me from being hit by idiot drivers not paying attention to the roads but on their phone.”
Animal Deterrent
Bears have hearing twice as sensitive as humans, and they can be frightened-off by a loud startling sound.
The Hornet rechargeable electric air horn will reliably deliver that startling sound at 121 decibels for 35 minutes per battery charge.
Boater Safety
“Super loud. Have this for my boat, it is incredibly loud and makes the boat trips a lot safer in case of emergency. The rechargeable capability makes it better than the traditional air cans which limits you in case you need to use it multiple times. It is very durable and strong. Would recommend.”
Very Satisfied
“Worth every penny! Couldn’t be better.”
Multi-Use Safety/Deterrent
“First off, this is loud. Seriously consider using hearing protection, especially if using in an enclosed space. It is much louder than the cheap gas-powered horns you hear at sporting events, so keep in mind that you’ll be located quickly if using it for that purpose. Outdoors, this will easily scare off wildlife, small children, and probably aliens. A handy holster is provided for your use. The device is nicely constructed, fairly lightweight, and really a lot of fun to have around.”
Boater Safety
In Canada and the US, regulations require that all boats carry some form of sound signaling device. In Canada, it must be audible for a minimum of 0.93 km. In the US, for boats up to 65 feet (20 meters), it must be audible for a 1/2 mile.
In both cases, the Hornet air horn exceeds these requirements.
Marine Safety Signaling
“The horn is robustly constructed, though the manual warns against dropping on hard surfaces, and fairly hefty. It is also very loud. I’m going to use it on my boat to signal across water as a foghorn, to signal boats, and to signal shore – so loud is good. I like the well constructed holster which will provide some protection when the horn is stowed and may come in handy when I’m in crowded waters and want to keep the horn handy. I may rig it to hang somewhere near the helm.”
Boater Safety
“This horn is awesome. This thing is LOUD. I’ve used the traditional canister fed horns for years and always hated that they were disposable. This gets you around that. I’ve had some that are “new” but don’t work when you need them due to some manufacturing defect in the horn itself or a canister that has leaked after bouncing around on a boat for a while. I hate throwing 15-20 dollars away every time one gets used up or you discover it’s malfunctioning well after any viable return date. This horn, while a little spendy, eliminates the disposable feeling, I feel like that’s a great value alone, but now I don’t need to buy multiple horns for multiple boats. Buy this bad boy and you’ll never need to buy another air horn again.”
Marine Safety
“This is a loud horn that meets the US Coast Guard requirements for boats less than 39′ of an “efficient sound producing device”. The USCG does not specify a decibel requirement but this loud horn likely meets the “audible for 1/2 mile” requirement for boats 39 to 65 feet. I like the holster provided so I can mount it at the helm and always have the horn ready. The rechargeability and long capacity make this much more convenient than an air horn.”
Hiking and Marine Safety
“This electric horn is super easy to use and it is loud, no question about that. I got it for hiking and paddling trips where I might need to scare off wildlife or signal for help, and it has been a great fit for those use cases. The recharge time is quick. I’ve used it several times already and haven’t needed to top it off yet.
It doesn’t rely on gas canisters, which always felt wasteful and a bit inconvenient to replace. The build quality feels solid, and the holster lets you keep it handy, attached to a belt or bag and the fit is good. The horn isn’t waterproof (just splashproof), so I’m a bit careful with how I store it, especially near water.”
Other Uses
The Hornet air horn is perfect for use in sporting events, particularly for starting races including cycling, running, triathlons, motocross, sailing regattas, shotgun starts at golf courses, paintball, surfing competitions… and many more!
